Match 1: Christian vs. Sheamus
A very strong way to open up the night as Sheamus continues his hot streak. The crowd is really getting behind him and his build is growing nicely. A great back and fourth contest which saw Sheamus get the better of Christian. Both should be having strong roles on the Friday show.

Match 2: Sin Cara vs. Sin Cara
This very odd feud hopefully comes to an end here as Sin Cara Blue takes on Sin Cara Black. Yes, that’s the names we are going by. The match was the normal Sin Cara match you’d expect and the crowd wasn’t into the action at all. A bland match with a pretty cool finish by Blue.

Match 3: WWE Tag Team Championships - Air Boom © vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Jack Swagger
Another match that felt as if it were a television contest. It’s cool to see that the tag team division is being rebuilt supposedly but matches like this don’t do much. Things just seemed rushed and clustered.

Match 4: World Heavyweight Championship - Hell in a Cell - Mark Henry © vs. Randy Orton
Still awesome to see Henry walk down the aisle with the belt on his shoulder. His matches have been great and this one surpassed everyone’s expectations. Great psychology from bell to bell with Henry showing off his dominance as Orton fought but just couldn’t beat him. However, Orton did manage to fend off Henry after the match with a steel chair to keep the ball rolling.

Match 5: Intercontinental Championship - Cody Rhodes © vs. John Morrison
Rhodes reveals the rebooted Intercontinental Championship before learning that he must face John Morrison for the belt. Some good back and fourth action and a nice way to get both men some PPV time. Cody gets the quick win to retain his gold and upset Morrison.
Winner: Cody Rhodes

Match 6: Divas Championship - Kelly Kelly © vs. Beth Phoenix
Gotta give credit where it needs to be given. This match was not only much better than their last bout on PPV, but the action was actually pretty entertaining. Phoenix wins after Natalya gets involved. Definitely a pleasant surprise.

Match 7: WWE Championship - Hell in a Cell - John Cena © vs. CM Punk vs. Alberto Del Rio
For the first time ever, a triple threat Hell in a Cell match will be contested for the WWE Championship. A lot of uncertainties were going entering this match but this was really a fun match. However, the ambiance for this match has been lost and the big match feel was definitely lost. The action was there but the innovation and creativeness has seemingly disappeared. Ricardo Rodriguez becomes a crucial factor in the match when he unlocks the cage door which leads to Del Rio locking Cena out of the match as he then went on to pin Punk for the win. The celebration leads nowhere when Miz & R-Truth come out and eventually get handcuffed by the police as Triple H makes an appearance and lets out his frustrations.
Winner: Alberto Del Rio

Overall Show Thoughts and Rating:
Just like I stated in my review for the main event, the innovation and creativeness for this match is just about gone. The two Hell in a Cell matches had no right of being inside the cage. WWE continues to pour out pointless and meaningless PPVs that only lead to cliffhangers. I’m pretty sure this entire show will be forgotten in the next couple weeks.

ROH Death Before Dishonor IX Review
Match 1: Homicide & Jay Lethal vs. Tommaso Ciampa & Rhino
The Embassy continues to strengthen themselves as they take on two ROH favorites to kick off the show. A really good opening contest that didn’t overstay its welcome and meshed well with the crowd. Ciampa plants Homicide to get the victory as he continues to look like gold.

Match 2: Shelton Benjamin vs. Mike Bennett
As much as I’ve been enjoying Bennett as of late, I don’t think this New York crowd can say the same. They were tearing him apart! Not much to say about this one, a very basic wrestling contest with Benjamin picking up a quick victory. If ROH wants to make a star out of Bennett, then he should really be winning these kinds of matches.
Winner: Shelton Benjamin

Match 3: Elimination - Future Shock vs. The Young Bucks vs. The Bravado Brothers
This match is just about what you would expect and that’s a good thing. A very strong match that showcased some awesome moves and a hot crowd. The only real drawback I have in this one would be The Bravados and how they looked like punching bags out there. With that aside, The Bucks get a big win and refuse to shake the hands of Future Shock as they leave. A big feud with both teams could be looming.
Winners: The Young Bucks

Match 4: El Generico vs. Jimmy Jacobs
Crowd seems a little cooled off from the last contest which is definitely a bummer considering the talent in the ring. Instead of going for the usual match full of big spots and tons of action, they took the action to the mat and freshened things up a bit. They both looked comfortable in their roles and the crowd enjoyed the action as well. This is the type of wrestling this company needs to see more of to differentiate one match from another. Kevin Steen eventually makes his way to ringside and all hell breaks loose. The match gets called off as Steen gets taken away by security. Great match with another great Steen moment.

Match 5: Michael Elgin vs. Charlie Haas
I don’t know if it’s just me but Haas somewhat seemed out of place. He doesn’t necessarily fit the mould of being a young star with tons of potential. However, he is still an amazing athlete and has a match against one of ROH’s biggest upcoming stars, Michael Elgin. Just like Shelton’s match, this was decent action at best with the action being much slower than Shelton’s. Haas picks up the win over Elgin through a somewhat short and forgettable contest. I stated earlier that Bennett needs to win his matches and the same thing can be applied for Elgin in this situation. I understand who Haas & Benjamin are but their wins shouldn’t be at the expenses of hot stars.

Match 6: Ringmaster’s Challenge - Eddie Edwards vs. Roderick Strong
This is the first Ringmaster’s Challenge match and the rules go as the following: the only way to win is by scoring two consecutive wins, the first match will be by pin fall, the second will be by submission, and the third will be a 15 minute Iron Man match. I wonder how this one is going to end. Anyway, the first two matches result in a tie which leads to the 15 minute Iron Man match. The first win went to Strong as the second went to Edwards. Very good wrestling from the two to kick things off as they set to compete in a grueling extra 15 minutes. They go back and forth and the match results in a tie after 15 minutes. Cornette comes out and lets the match go on until a winner is named. Edwards eventually got the victory after again hitting his finisher. Edwards now receives a shot at the ROH World Championship. A great match but I can’t help but feel like their matches are getting tiresome. I enjoy the action but we’ve seen this too many times and it’s simply just time to move on. Even still, a great contest to fill the void of a missing Davey Richards.

Match 7: Ladder War III - The All Night Express vs. The Briscoes
Instead of a championship bout closing out the night, we get Ladder War III featuring the culmination of the company’s hottest feud. Words don’t describe how bloody and brutal this match was. It was pretty much guaranteed that Jay Briscoe was going to bust open but the amount of blood that poured out of his head was just insane. Just like their bout in Chicago back in May, this match had that big fight feel and that awesome ambiance. It felt as if they wanted to kill each other. From big ladder spots to huge table splatters, this was a war. The bloody affair ends with Kenny King knocking Jay Briscoe off the ladder and grabbing the contract hanging above to score a title shot for his team against Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team in Chicago. After, King signs the contract with the blood of Jay Briscoe. That was pretty cool. A fitting end to an awesome feud. While not at the level of the previous two Ladder Wars, I can easily say that this match was a fun and awesome roller coaster. A great end to a show that didn’t feature a match for the ROH World Championship.

A very good show with the two last matches being the main focus. The void of Davey Richards was nicely filled but as the champion, he should really be at these main shows. The undercard wasn’t anything spectacular and even felt recycled in a sense. With that being said, this year’s Death Before Dishonor was a good one that sets up a big fourth quarter for Ring of Honor.

WWE Night of Champions 2011 Review
Match 1: WWE Tag Team Championships - Air Boom © vs. The Miz & R-Truth
Air Boom get the win after Miz shoves the referee which leads to Miz & Truth beating him down afterwards. Good WWE type of tag team match with lots of action to start off the show.

Match 2: Intercontinental Championship - Cody Rhodes © vs. Ted DiBiase
Pretty bland match. DiBiase just doesn’t really do anything for me as Rhodes is seemingly the star of the match as he picked up the win.

Always liked Henry and so glad to see that he finally won the big one. The match wasn’t anything too special but the psychology and dominance by Henry was all there with the promo afterwards solidifying his spot. A great moment in the show and especially for Henry’s career.

Don’t even know where to begin. I liked the match but at the same time, I didn’t. They let the mayhem from the interference take over and the action between these two just seemingly got forgotten. Even still, the match was fun to watch as Triple H lands a second Pedigree upon Punk to get the win.

ROH Best in the World 2011 Review
Match 1A: Generation Me vs. Adam Cole & Kyle O’Reilly
This match was a DVD bonus and not on the iPPV card due to legal reasons. I’m not too sure how to rate this match, it was packed with spot after spot after spot. I’m not really one for these types of matches but it was an awesome way to kick off the show and really showed off what these two teams are capable of.

Match 1B: Colt Cabana vs. Tomasso Ciampa
Ciampa is the real deal, I would love to see this guy in the main event soon. He looks like a million bucks and his match against Cabana here proves that statement. Another good match to get the show going.

Match 2: Mike Bennett vs. Jay Lethal
The atmosphere is just ridiculous. It almost made this match what it was. Bennett has really improved over the past few months and you can see that in this match against Lethal. They managed to use the crowd as an advantage and pull off another good match to get the night going.

Match 3: No Holds Barred Barrio Street Fight - Homicide vs. Rhino
That was a straight fight and having a hot crowd made it so much better. The show is delivering on all cylinders and that was so much better than expected. Homicide gets the win but Rhino lands a Spear on Homicide through a table afterwards to the delight of the crowd. Good stuff.

Match 4: Steve Corino vs. Michael Elgin
Match certainly wasn’t anything special but it accomplished it’s purpose and put Elgin over while forwarding the storyline with Corino. Steen arrives to the scene afterwards and cleans house much to the delight of the crowd. This whole angle with Steen is becoming increasingly interesting…

That was so much fun and such a great way to send Daniels out. The crowd was so into the action and the match rolled nicely. There were a few spots where things definitely dragged out but the anticipation and build leading to the final few minutes made it all worth it.

Match 6: ROH World Tag Team Championships - Elimination - Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team © vs. The Kings of Wrestling vs. The All Night Express vs. The Briscoes
Four of the world’s best tag teams going at it for the belts. Once again, the crowd is way into this one as The Kings come out to a special entrance to hype things up. The eliminations were great and the action was constant but I couldn’t help but feel as if things kept getting dragged. The match went way longer than it had to and it really drew me out of the experience. The Kings faced off against Haas & Benjamin in the final where Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team retain the belts after a very underwhelming finish.
Winners: Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team

This is the match that defines the show, the one match that the entire show revolved around; Eddie Edwards vs. Davey Richards. The build for this match has been phenomenal so the anticipation is to nobody’s surprise, huge. The champion focused on the challenger’s knee throughout the course of the match but Davey wouldn’t budge. The two men kept going back to their hard styles of wrestling and it worked. The psychology, the buzz, and the wrestling in general was amazing. Granted, there were times in the match where it felt it was dragging a bit but they quickly got things moving after the action stalled. The emotion and the overall feeling illuminated by this match is second to none and something you won’t find in any other independent wrestling organization. Davey Richards captures the ROH World Championship after a huge kick to the skull of Eddie Edwards right after Richards proclaimed that Edwards would always be his brother. Professional wrestling gets annoying, frustrating, and dull at times. However, this match and whole feud proves otherwise. It shows how this sport can be as emotional and amazing as anything else. The speeches delivered afterwards made everything even more special than they already were. A fantastic match and something that represents what honor truly is.

ROH Supercard of Honor VI Review
Match 1: Homicide vs. Michael Elgin
Decent opening match from the two. Just something you would normally see in a Homicide match. A few fancy moves here and there until Homicide grabs the win.
Winner: Homicide

Match 2: Adam Cole & Kyle O’Reilly vs. Bravado Brothers
Full of action with a hot crowd to back things up. They’re definitely not the two best tag teams in the business but they can pull out matches like this whenever they want.
Winners: Adam Cole & Kyle O’Reilly

Match 3: Steve Corino vs. Mike Bennett
Very similar to their last encounters which shouldn’t really come as a surprise. Both were good in their roles and Jimmy Jacobs should make for some interesting things down the stretch.
Winner: Mike Bennett

Match 4: El Generico vs. Chris Hero
Very entertaining match that was more fun than actual wrestling. Sometimes, these matches are needed and it was a nice change of pace from the night. Short and just enjoyable to watch.

Match 5: Davey Richards vs. Charlie Haas
This match would definitely be in the four star range a year ago or so but times have changed and after watching many Davey matches, the formula has gotten a bit dry. Very intense and very fun to watch but again, after watching this formula so many times, one must wonder why no one sells anything most of the time. It takes so much away from the match. Even still, I did enjoy this match and Davey screaming at the top of his lungs is always fun.

Match 6: Claudio Castagnoli vs. Shelton Benjamin
A bit slow but definitely a nice way to slow down the pacing of the show as we anticipate the next two matches. With that said, the match itself was really good as both men really know how to institute psychology into a match and get the crowd going. The feud between both tag teams continue!
Winner: Shelton Benjamin

Match 7: Chicago Street Fight - The All Night Express vs. The Briscoes
Just a fun and insane fight, you can almost feel the intensity. Definitely on par with last year’s street fight as chains, chairs, tables, and big spots were all used in the process. The feud really picks up here as something more dangerous and something more intense is on the way.
Winners: The Briscoes

Match 8: ROH World Championship - Eddie Edwards © vs. Roderick Strong
They went for an intense match and that is exactly what they gave us. A very strong follow up to their epic match a couple months back. Edwards is beginning to play the John Cena role, he’s somewhat the new face of the company and the psychology of their matches are very similar. And that’s a good thing. Fantastic main event with a fantastic promo afterwards to cap things off.
Winner: Eddie Edwards

Overall Show Thoughts and Rating:
A very strong Chicago show as Ring of Honor steps into a new world. The undercard was definitely worthwhile and the two main events delivered in their own rights. I’m not sure if I want to call this the best show of the year but it’s definitely up there.

ROH Revolution: Canada Review
Match 1: Claudio Castagnoli vs. Kyle O’Reilly
Awesome opening match! Both men really know how to get a crowd going, especially Claudio as he picked up the win. He is just a star out there.
Winner: Claudio Castagnoli

Match 2: Mike Bennett vs. Steve Corino
Went a little longer than it really had to but still enjoyable and entertaining. Bennett is slowly becoming a player in ROH and wins like this will really help elevate him.

Match 3: Double Danger Scramble - Rhett Titus vs. Adam Cole vs. Michael Elgin vs. Tommaso Ciampa vs. Grizzly Redwood vs. Andy Ridge
Hectic, fun, and more fun. Toss a bunch of guys in a match and let them go loose and this is the end result. Elgin is a beast, no other way to put it.
Winner: Michael Elgin

Match 4: Davey Richards vs. Kenny King
For all the hate this match may get, it was still very good. Kenny looked motivated and Davey’s botch at the end didn’t take anything away. I just wish the crowd would have gotten into the action more. Good match that dragged on at times but still enjoyable.

Ain’t no doubt about it... That was too much fun, a beautiful and fitting tribute to Mr. Sweet & Sour. RIP Larry Sweeney. 12 large!

Really enjoyable match! Great chemistry between the two and the crowd was hot throughout. Sets up for some fun stuff down the line with Corino getting in the mix of things. This show is really getting good.

Match 7: ROH World Tag Team Championships - Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team © vs. The Briscoes
Good for what it was worth. It was the match you would come to expect from these guys. WGTT get the win after All Night Express interfere.

From the build to the match itself, this match had epic written all over it. An amazing match that further stamps these two as the company’s biggest stars. Edwards wins via knock out on The Young Knock Out Kid. Tremendous action and psychology from start to finish.

Overall Show Thoughts and Rating:
Not the best show ever, but definitely a fun one. Main event managed to define not only the show, but the weekend as a whole. Phenomenal effort from both men to close out the weekend on a strong note.

ROH Revolution: USA Review
Match 1: Tommaso Ciampa vs. Homicide
This match was another decent exchange to get the crowd going for the show and basically the same thing as their last match with the only difference here being Prince Nana helping out Ciampa in his cause to win. Nothing special but Ciampa gets a good win as Homicide wraps up his weekend.
Winner: Tommaso Ciampa

Match 2: Michael Elgin vs. Andy Ridge
Elgin gets the win in about five minutes after driving Ridge hard on the mat. Elgin has a great future and I can’t wait to see where he will be in a year from now. This match, however, was just stupid.
Winner: Michael Elgin

Match 3: Mike Bennett vs. Grizzly Redwood
This suffers the same problem from the last. Why does it take Bennett, a man who we are trying to elevate into a better position, about five or so minutes to beat this guy? The interest level in the first three matches of the night have never been this low for me. I’m just hoping the next match changes this.
Winner: Mike Bennett

Match 4: First Blood - The Briscoes vs. The All Night Express
Great stuff and a great way to finally crack open this show a bit. The ending was just downright clever and the crowd enjoyed everything about this one. This feud is definitely going to be huge.
Winners: The All Night Express

Match 5: Christopher Daniels vs. Colt Cabana
Daniels gets the win with help from Truth Martini who nailed Cabana with the book. Decent affair with Daniels doing a great job as his new role as a heel.

Match 6: Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team vs. Adam Cole & Kyle O’Reilly
Just your typical WGTT match, same stuff with the same moves and reversals. Good match but this thing is getting old pretty fast and the crowd was super dead. They pick up the win and raise their opponents’ arms. Time to move on.
Winners: Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team

Match 7: No Disqualification - El Generico vs. Roderick Strong
Great brawl involving a hot crowd, lots of reasonable interference, and great action from these two which includes a sick finish. Good way to get the crowd ready for the epic main event.

Better than the last time? Tough to call but damn, this was good. Great storytelling and fantastic in ring action. Amazing match with an amazing ending. The exchange between The Wolves afterwards just adds layers upon layers of drama. Tomorrow’s main event is going to be good.
